winter silhouettes
a copse of sailboat masts cut
from the dawning sky
Twist
The sun has risen
and shone its warmth on my face
for the final time.
Warmth
I wish it was when
cold winter days were naught
but a memory.
Serenity
Waves softly lapping.
Across the lush, verdant grass,
dappled light wanders.
Winter
The night air’s cold hand
reaches down and pulls my breath
in shards from my chest.
Sunset
Crimson clouds hang low.
The day’s embers glow softly,
Burning down to dusk.
Morning
I wake before three
I go to freeze on dark tides
For another’s riches
Nerves
“Step to the board and
don’t forget to show your work.”
He hands me the chalk.
Noir
It’s dark on the bridge.
Biting winds tear at my coat.
She should be here soon.
