monsters in my head
clamor at the gates of hell
screaming to be let out
–
the hiss of rain-
slow scratching
under my bed
Category: Time
Light
the sun reaches down
and kisses the horizon
at the dawn of dusk
–
spreading warmth-
two more fingers
of liquid gold
Solitude
shut in this fortress
long days spent looking over
my kingdom of sand
–
rising tides-
my castle begins
to crumble
Transience
hallucinations-
my ephemeral partners
along for the ride
–
water lilies-
a pond dimpled
by dragonflies
Temptation
clear azure waters
tropical sun overhead
melting my resolve
–
bronzed skin-
one more glass
of dutch courage
Shade
late sun at our backs
walking the path before us-
intertwined shadows
–
passing time-
in the corners
collecting shadows
Eyes
the burning red orb
casts its gaze about the land
hard and unblinking
–
ragweed-
my eyes swollen
and gritty
Descent
as the sun goes down-
I turn the final pages
of this well worn book
–
a ashen moon-
mist descends
upon the moors
Volcano
bottles of cognac
cast upon volcanic rock
a gift to pele
–
catharsis-
rivers of fire
run to the sea
Fog
sand hill cranes glide through
frost smoke on a mountain lake
as the day begins
–
coming ashore-
fog blankets
the lighthouse
