Shipwreck

draped in tulle and lace
far below the frozen sea-
immemorial

nestled in
the ocean deep-
lost to time

Conflict

brought forth from the ice-
my tarnished battle armor
deeply scarred from use

far from the cherry blossoms-
the clarion call
of battle

River

herons in the reeds-
crabs hide under stones after
the overnight rain

river rocks-
barbel catfish lurk
in the shadows

Traffic

highway median-
long neglected grasses sway
with the passing cars

towering light pole-
a red tailed hawk
spots it’s prey

Contract

under a blood moon-
take my name from off your lips
and release my soul

wet ink-
my name
bound to you

farm stand

by a country lane-
a hand lettered wooden sign
farm fresh eggs for sale

fresh eggs-
a card table
in the shade

Transience

encroaching midnight-
the doomsday clock poised to toll
humanity’s dirge

pools of red wax-
guttering candles
cast their meager light

Age

honeysuckle wine-
content letting the front porch
host my slow decline

passing cars-
an afghan shrouds
her empty rocker

Until

unearthed by the wind-
stone sentinels laid low by
the passage of time

dew kissed moss-
a small stone shrine
unvisited

Vampire

a cold night’s work done-
the creeping light of daybreak
seeps into my tomb

guttering torchlight-
weary of the death
that slakes my thirst
