a flash of lighting
tears the fabric of the night
letting in the rain
–
wet brilliance
slicing through
shadows

Detritus
I drag my feet through
the dust of relationships
that I’ve left behind
–
shuffling
forward into
an empty future
Expiration
a dying ember
brightened by love’s final breath
at last extinguished
–
autumn
the last robin
falls silent
Disturbance
watching while you sleep
your gentle breath, warm and sweet
so easily stilled
–
echoes of
silence spread
throughout the night
Anger
a cold rain shower
washes down my upturned face
hiding bitter tears
–
cloudy
dark and moody
raining together
Clamor
the noise in my head
a constant cacophony
that gives me no peace
–
whirlwind-
tranquility overcome
by turbulent thoughts
Introspection
often I frequent
my mind’s darker recesses
to search for solace
Or
in the dark corners
of my mind
seeking peace-
Destiny
Peace is elusive
But a respite from the past
Would suffice for now
Waiting
A tendril of smoke
Rises from her cigarette
As she sits alone
Barefoot
Shards of your anger
Litter the ground around you
Keeping me at bay
